Québec, on 24 september 2008 – At City Hall Quebec, in the presence of
Mr. François Picard, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the
City and Melanie Fitzgerald, director of operations for the W-League,
the board of Directors Club Soccer Quebec unveiled the name of the team
that will represent the region of Quebec within the W-League in 2009:
Arsenal at Quebec.
W-LEAGUE presents the highest level of play in women's soccer
semi-professional in America, and will therefore athletes in the
greater region of Quebec to have access to a network of higher
competition. The team will focus on white, black and gold
and will begin its first season in May at the new stadium of St.
François Seminary.
The conclusion of a partnership with the
Brazilian company Penalty, represented in Canada by Penalty Multisport, was
also announced as equipement supplier for the next three (3) years.
Opponents of the team in the north-east division will be Laval, Ottawa,
Vermont, Boston, Western Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The ARSENAL resulting of the idea of a team of 4 developers : Samir Ghrib, David Desloges, Stéphane Alain and Maxime Barabé.
